Meta: About Websites

The OpenPKG World-Wide-Web representation consists of websites under three primary second-level domains, each corresponding to one of the primary OpenPKG organization units:

• openpkg.org: OpenPKG Project
• openpkg.com: OpenPKG Corporation
• openpkg.net: OpenPKG Foundation

All share the same visual style and global navigation, provided by a central website meta service.

Design & Implementation

The website was designed and implemented by Ralf S. Engelschall between January and March 2006. The following major technologies were primarily used for the implementation:

• FreeBSD operating system,
• X11 graphical windowing system,
• KDE graphical desktop environment,
• Vim text editor,
• ImageMagick graphics conversion toolkit,
• Firefox web browser,
• VMWare Workstation virtualization system,
• Windows XP operating system,
• Photoshop graphics editing toolkit.

Standard Compliance

The website content is composed with the following technologies:

• PHP 5.1 server-side scripting language,
• JavaScript 1.5 client-side scripting language,
• XHTML 1.0 content markup language,
• CSS 2.0 content styling language,
• PNG content graphics format and
• JPEG content graphics format.
