Of course going from 5 watts to 25 watts is a 7db increase, which is over 1
S unit. I do think, though, that the 3db gain from 100 watts to 200 watts
did help, especially under margin conditions.
Unfortunately I don't have a scope to adjust the audio and ALC. I am
currently using a Yaesu FT100D which uses a different microphone that the
FT857, and the mic for the FT100 doesn't have the 2 position switch on it.
