[Yaesu] FT2000 DSP problem, (tip on loading firmware)

Perhaps this might be of help to the original poster.
I had a FT-2000 (best radio I ever owned, but circumstances forced me to
sell it).
Anyway, it's possible that the owner isn't uploading the firmware
properly. This must be done in two separate steps, first the main
firmware update, THEN the DSP. The methods of loading the firmware is
different for the two loads, or it won't 'take'.
To upload the main firmware there is a switch under the radio that must
be turned on, OR use the special cable that is available (which does the
same thing). THEN, to load the DSP firmware, that switch MUST be turned
OFF, OR a different cable used that doesn't short that connection.
(exact details have slipped my mind by now).
AND you must follow the Yaesu upload instructions to the letter, and if
I recall correctly many people HAVE to reboot their computer between the
uploads to clear the Comm Ports. . .
I hope this helps.
