Couldn't be that far off and still be in the band or make a contact. You
mean Hz, not KHz I think. Such offset is often from RIT being enabled OR
different ears and the way you tune SSB. I'm not intimately familiar
with the twins, but this also happens in Collins S-lines when the
transmitter and receiver BFO crystals have drifted. It can also be a
sign of the HF crystals not matching if they are both in use, one set
for transmit, one for receive.
