This does not have one "fast" button. Instead there are 4 buttons in
total. Two are for fast up/down and the other two are for slow
up/down. On the panel, the lettering and buttons is laid out like
this. I guess a proportionally spaced font will screw up the way this
looks, but hopefully you can get what I mean.
DWN----FAST-----UP
 B B
DWN----SLOW----UP
 B B
where "B" is a button. and the rest is printed on the face of the
FT-ONE. So I think I can probably conclude my FAST buttons are not
working. I've tried holding the "fast up" button at the same time as
the "slow up". It makes no difference.
It would be nice to fix this, but hardly a priority.
I bought the rig off of eBay used. This fault was not disclosed, but
nor was the fact it had the optional FM board and AM filter. I'd much
rather have the FM board and AM filter than I would the facility to
scan in 100 kHz steps.
The microphone supplied with the rig (a MH-31 hand microphone) is not
the correct one according to the FT-ONE handbook, which shows the
YM-35, YM-36 and YM-37 hand mics. Anyway, this mike has what appears
to be 3 buttons for scanning. Up, down and fast. The up/down buttons
make the unit scan, but the fast button does not change the scan rate.
