ed,
i hate to be the bearer of bad news. however a rig wrapped in bubble
wrap is a pretty solid reason for fed ex to deny the claim, as
evidenced by its failure to protect your rig. it places the full weight
of the impact directly on the face and fragile knobs. they are going to
claim that the packing was insufficient and not to the original
manufacturers specs. unfortunately, you do not have any legal standing
with fed ex. the third party is the legal shipper of record, and if fed
ex denies your claim, you will have to sue the third party in small
claims court. the third party was negligent in its packing. we will
keep our fingers crossed and wish you good luck.

ps get the small claims paperwork ready. you will win in court on this one.

Thanks everyone for the feed back and advice. I'm still in the process and will let you know what happens. I am going to dispute their findings off course and hope Yaesu can help in some way. Will be calling them a little later as it's only 10 am eastern here. By the way, this was shipped and prepared by a third party so they are the ones having to dispute Fed Ex. I watched the girl prepare the package with bubble wrap and then box it and then box it inside another box with air bubbles and paper. They've had to deliver a pretty good lick for it to be damaged. I'm told that in some cases Fed Ex and UPS both treat their packages like basketballs. :-(
