I haven't used the FT-290RII but I do own the 6-meter version, the FT-690RII. It really isn't "all mode" in the fact that it doesn't have AM capabilities. However, it does have FM, USB, LSB, and CW.
The FT-690RII performs well on FM and SSB. I haven't really used it for CW except for test purposes. It is my "back up" SSB 6-meter rig and I also use it on FM to drive a 120 watt output Class "C" amplifier. In addition, I use it as the i.f. for my 222 MHz homebrew transmitting converter.

I am wondering if anyone on the list has used a Yaesu FT290RII 2 meter all mode rig? If so, how do they operate overall? How is their performance compared to a Kenwood TR9130 or TR751A?
Any good or bad things about them?
