[Yaesu] What a DIN... (pun intended)

That's the problem I run into over here, many "DIN" (Deutsches Institut für
Normung), when someone asks for a DIN connector, even a five pin, God only
knows what it really is because there may be twenty five of them with
different numbers. I have a 13 pin one in my hand that I cannot find the
mate to, I use pins cut from a DB-25M and carefully stick them in.
Unfortunately, I don't have an 847 to say "you get THAT connector, whatever
it is, from this place for $X". It gets even worse when you find out that
DIN has been converted and many of the numbers have been replaced with
IEC-XXXXX. The DIN standard covers #1 - #79999 and includes things you'd
never imagine, including chain, screws, heaters, pipelines... I don't know
the original publication of the standards, but I recognise some of the
connectors from the early 1960's. Then there is "Molex" (brand) and "Molex
connectors". I have a radio with a "Molex" connector which Molex never made
and they want $$$$$ to make me a prototype... Molex has a similar one for
about 1,ドル but is 90º off, what I need and eventually bought, is about 20,ドル
special order from Japan.
