[Yaesu] FT-847 60M Mod?

Does anyone know if the FT-847 can be modified for 60M use without messing up everything else? I have an 847 and some other local hams do as well and the subject has come up. I tried modifying mine according to info on the web, and yes it did work for 60, but it also screwed up all bands. It would be nice to open it up on HF while leaving 50 and up alone. All the mods i could find open the radio up so that the ARS quits working, and there is the possibility of transmitting out of band on VHF and up.
