[Yaesu] Kenwood TS-940 CAUTION!

Unless you're using 50 or 60 year old gear like Collins, Drake,
National, Hallicrafters etc, where it is very easy to come up with
replacement parts other than purely unique mechanical or trim parts.
Progress into the age of solid state has only introduced the factor of
decreasing the usable life of electronic gear. How much SS ham gear,
regardless of the manufacturer, will still be 100% functional and at
factory specs 50 or 60 years from now? In 50 years I bet more 100 or 120
year old tube gear will be functioning then "current" SS gear! My 70
year old National HRO works perfect today.
If you are into the latest bells and whistles and willing to sacrifce
the ability to repair your gear after 10 or so years have passed, the
new generations of SS gear are fantastic. But for longevity, look to the
old gear.
