I don't think it's a matter of 50 vs 60 Hz. Mains in the U.S. are
120 VAC while Europe and the U.K. use 240 VAC. I don't know much about the
FT-1000D, but it seems to me that Yaesu would find it economical to build
all of them with the same mains XFMR and provide a switch or wiring
mod to change between 120 and 240 VAC. The only thing likely to be affected
by the difference in mains frequency would be a real time clock if it uses
mains voltage zero crossings to keep time. I don't know if the FT-1000D
has a real time clock. If it does, I suspect that it's self contained with a
crystal oscillator that's independent of the mains frequency.
