Joe,
Stopping at intersections is when your car is usually idling, alternator
voltage or regulator may be a problem. I also have a 1500M, running often in
my 1993 Ford Aerostar from batteries in back charged with a cable to the
cigarette lighter, voltage when running about 14.3 volts. I have had no
problems except when running on small batteries alone with voltage in 11
volt range, then the radio simply shuts down.
