The only place I was able to locate to work on my Yaesu FT-736 was Yaesu.
It seems that they handle all their warranty work first, and other jobs get
done when they get to them. I sent the unit in October and was just given
the repair estimate two weeks ago, after several calls and emails to them.
The person who gave me the estimate was very rude on the telephone, and was
not able to give me any details on why various things had to be done to the
rig. Furthermore, I was told that's just the way it is. When I called back
to give them authorization to proceed, the best I could do in several calls
was to leave a message on a machine. I asked for a call back, but in two
weeks have heard nothing.
If I EVER see my FT-736 again, I'll count myself lucky. Obviously, I've
scratched Yaesu off of my future purchase list. Anyone who sends gear to
them for a repair is a fool, including myself, I guess!
