[Yaesu] Power levels on 2 meters

I am currently running a 100 watt amp on 2 meters,
which requires 10 watts drive. Works fine with the
FT100D. I like having the lower output on 2 meters as
I have been running alot of WSJT, and don't want to
drive the FT100 too hard.
Now I am trying to find a higher power amp,and so far,
the best deal is one that requires 25-30 watts drive. 
What have been others experiences with driving the
FT100D at this power level on full duty modes? Will
it be much harder on the rig than running it at 10
watts? It is still only 1/2 power on 2 meters.
I also found an RF concepts amp that requires 2 watts
of drive. The manual did not say the max drive, just
2 in for 170 out. Can the FT100D be turned down this
low consistently on 2 meters?
