Also recommend the FT-900, mine a CAT with 250 Hz CW filter. Only thing I would
change is get an INRAD filter instead of the stock Yaesu one, but understand
INRAD recommends the 250Hz stock filter. Things I like are metering, one-second
delay, having signal strength, power out and SWR in same setting, and radio
is everything in one box, keyer, all HF bands, power settings for QRP, antenna
tuner, memories, good VOX, just add powew, antenna, mike or key, and you are
ready to go. A fun radio to operate and very similiar to my FT-990. both are
keepers.

VHF. So if you're interest is primarily HF and want a great radio with all
the features you'll save a lot of money. The remoteable front panel makes it
great for mobile work too. I've had one for about 6 years and have used/abused
the heck out of it and it just keeps playing.
