[Yaesu] FT-530 Frequency extend mod

I have an earlier FT-530 which I performed the mod on--I was in
college and wanted a 'marker' frequency generator for spec-an use.
(Hint, don't connect it directly to the input of the spec unless
you *like* to blow the expensive frontends.)
When trying to use it as a normal ham rig (with the mod in effect),
life was very painful. Change the frequency and the rig forgets
the repeater offset--ARS down not work. It also forgets the tone
squelch settings (mode and freq). If you just live with the
settings in the memory, you'll be fine. But, trying to enter 80+
memories with tone settings and repeater offsets will drive you
nuts. Trying to use the VFO like that is nearly impossible.
Once I graduated, I got distracted by work and when I got back
into the hobby, I got another radio, so the old FT-530 is still
set for wide band TX/RX. I think I'll go look at that web site
and see what the default settings for NA are and 'mod' it back.
The FT-530 is a great rig--features, size, etc.--and I wouldn't
mind having it back 'useable'.
If I need wide band RX, I'll just use my VX-1R--what a sweet little
rig that is, too.
Cheers,
