[Yaesu] FT-620B Information.

John and Chris,
FM was not a common mode on 6m in the mid 1970's when the 620B was made, as
evidenced by the other makes of 6m transceivers of the era. The 620(B) was
novel in its day for its abundant features, compact size, reasonable price,
and probably most important - solid state.
Also, if anyone knows of a users group for the FT-620B, I would be
interested. I picked one up at a hamfest this year, not for it's intrinsic
worth or value, but that it matches the rest of my FT-101E station.

FT620B
8 watts AM/ 20watts PEP SSB/CW No FM if I recall correctly...could be
modified for FM but is it worth it? covered the entire band...even
had squelch on AM and SSB (why didnt they include FM?) analog readout
Not a bad rig from what I have heard....no major problems that I
know of.....good rig but lack of FM is a downside..get a FT625R or RD
instead...
There were two versions of the 620....the original and the B....here is
a URL with pics of both: http://www.bcn.net/~daveg/metal/ft620.htm
and here are the tech specs:
