Yes, that is what we want. We want all the buttons currently implemented in
LOGic to work properly on the K3 as they work on other rigs.
More than that, even if you do get the TS-850 driver to work perfectly with
the K3, I think it would be a very smart move on your part to replicate it
and list it as a K3 driver as well. There is simply no "LOGical" explanation
for not showing direct native support for a radio that is now used by
virtually every DXpedition, not to mention thousands of top DXers, around
the world. Check out the DXpedition web pages: K3s, K3s, K3s. Look at the
photos: K3s everywhere you look. (I did see one the other day that was using
K2s. LOL)
Dennis, this is more a marketing issue than a technical issue. Do most LOGic
users use the control buttons on the bottom row? I don't know; probably not.
(They certainly don't if they have a K3, because they don't work.) But the
ABSENCE of native, correctly functional K3 support is a huge blooper in the
eyes of most knowledgeable hams. It's like, "Huh? WTF?" No other logging
program I know of, free or paid, doesn't have basic (VFOs/modes) K3 support
that works. There might be one, but if so I don't know about it.

PS -- Maybe you've never used a K3 on CW, where it outclasses anything else
out there, regardless of price, by a country mile. Arrange to have somebody
 >>who really knows how to use it<< do a demo when the DX is running; it's
worthwhile. It will blow your mind. Might even be motivating. :-)

I have posted this here before as I recall. If not, I apologize:
*I am first redoing the Kenwood 850 driver with the new platform. If
anything doesn't work, I will do a k3-specific driver. We want to get
all of the buttons on LOGic working with the K3.*
Is this acceptable?
I will support all features that LOGic supports within limitations of
the rig. I know that the K2 allowed switching between VFOs A & B. The
K3 does not. Hopefully it will support Swap A & B (a new feature added
to LOGic 9 for rigs that use a main/sub VFO arrangement). We will get
all of the buttons on LOGic working.
LOGIc 9 also supports OmniRig, so that will be another option for the
K3. However, I expect that LOGic's native driver will actually offer
more capability.
I have gotten calls from K3 users and others complaining about OLE
errors related to the COM port and the like. This is caused by Prolific
USB=>RS232 adapters that are not fully RS-232 compatible, and is a
well-documented problem that occurs with many software packages, not
just LOGic. It is unlikely that Prolific adapters will work any better
with LOGic 9 than 8. Get an FTDI-based adapter, and the errors will go
away.
I will not buy Logic 9 if it does not _fully _support the K3, end of story.
Note that LOGic is not intended to be a remote operation program that
fully replaces the front panel of the rig. We do not attempt to support
every remote control command that a rig may have.
If that is what you need, TRX-Manager IS a remote-control program.
Laurent has a K3 and has added a lot of K3-specific features to
TRX_Manager. Does it support_everything?_ Maybe not. But it is the
most comprehensive K3 program out there. Here are some screen shots from
his web site: http://trx-manager.com/edspe.htm#k3
Tnx &73,
