Good point about deleting all other call signs when duping the line in the prefix table.
I would do both suggestions. Add to the prefix and add to the alert list.

I think if you don't associate K4M with KH4, you will miss KH4/Midway if you 
only add to the alerts...K4M *will* show up in the alerts, but will not show 
up as needed KH4 (it'll show as K4/USA). If you can keep track of this 
subtlety the alerts approach will work OK.
