I had an XP machine that is set to not automatically restart, automatically

Forget it... figured it out. It wasn't coincidence ;-)
There are some issues accessing Logic over a network as to DB status as
status seems to be stored with the local copy and may not always be
correct. Problem was the indexes needed to be rebuilt on the remote
machine... the issue was caused bt Windows doing a forced restart of the
machine on which Logic had been running locally.
