[Logic] Changing field size in Log screen

Wes,
I'm guessing that FREQ and PWR are both reported to LOGic by your rig, and the
decimal places you see on the LOG-MAIN input screen are the decimal places LOGic
expects your rig (or perhaps ANY rig) to report. When these numbers are then
recorded in the Log database, the decimal places are set (rounded down or padded
up) as you specified in the fields utility.
I did a few tests to see if I could characterize the behavior of the FREQ log
field and Freq input screen field.
My rig (TS-B2000/RC-2000), in "NORMAL" tuning mode, reports frequencies to the
nearest 10 Hz (five decimal places). If I have my log database set up to
display, for example, six decimal places (the default), the reported frequency
is padded with a trailing zero. The LOG-MAIN Freq input field in LOGic shows
five decimal places, the same as my RC-2000 LCD display.
If I put my rig into "FINE" tuning mode, however, it reports its frequency to
the nearest 1 Hz (six decimal places), and if I again have my log database set
up to display six decimal places (the default), I in fact see a frequency
readout to six decimal places -- even though my RC-2000 display has no LCD digit
to display this last decimal place. The rig is reporting it to LOGic out to six
places, and LOGic is recording that in the log. The LOG-MAIN Freq input field,
however, shows only five decimal places.
If I change my log database to show only three decimal places in FREQ, LOGic
will round the frequency reported by the rig up or down to the nearest 1 kHz and
write that to the log. But The LOG-MAIN Freq input field again shows five
decimal places.
If I delete the rig specification in LOGic setup altogether, turn the rig off,
and restart LOGic, I still get a LOG-MAIN Freq input field with five decimal
places.
My conclusion from these experiments is that the decimal-places property of the
Freq input field is hard-coded to five. I would likewise assume that the Power
input screen field is hard-coded to two decimal places. Could be wrong... Maybe
Dennis will come in and enlighten us all. :-)
