[Logic] Grid square list

George & Phil,
Correct. Grids are added to the list of valid values (LOVV) only "as worked".
However, it's possible to get a grid square into the list even though you didn't
work it. Basically, the grid square is entered into the LOVV as soon as a
looked-up call (from the internal or any external callbook) is committed to the
log. This can occur inadvertently when you look up a call you hear, and then do
something else in LOGic before clearing that unworked call from the log data
input form. Moving the program's focus away from the input form causes the
looked-up data in the form to be committed to the log -- and at the same time,
the grid square is added to the LOVV.
Of course, you will notice the bogus "QSO" in the log and manually delete it.
Doing this, however, doesn't delete the grid square from the LOVV. The grid will
show up in the Progress List as "Unconfirmed, incl unworked". If you don't think
there's anything wrong with this behavior, then there's no problem. After all,
it's not telling you anything that isn't true. But it gets messy. :-) I make
it a point to keep my grid square LOVV cleaned up, such that "Total" is always
the same as "Worked".
As fas as I know, it's the only trackable entity that works this way. There is
no master list of all existing grid squares. (Reason: There is no "Worked All
Grid Squares" award, as there are many grid squares covering nothing but
trackless ocean and other uninhabited regions that nobody can reasonably expect
ever to work on VHF/UHF -- or on any other wavelength, for that matter.)
