I do understand your problem but I do not have a solution. I do know that I
will not pay that kind of money and not may others will either year in and
year out. If it were a book that lasted 5 years then it would be ok.
One of the problems is that there is so much data available on the web for
no charge.
For instance, if you get the DXLABS free suite of programs it includes a
program called pathfinder that will use any of the CDROMS, any of the web
sites and AUTOMATICALLY according to the call sign will go to the correct
country data base and return the information from the free government data
bases. This is free. I don't know when the guy sleeps but he provides BY FAR
the BEST program suite for tracking DX that you can buy at any price.
His logging program is even close to being one of the best General Purpose
logging programs. I would not buy any commercial logging program if I had
started with his suite today, even though some of them have a lot more
features and flexibility. For the price and ease of use (he is VERY good
about making a sensible simple but powerful user interface) they cannot be
beat.
