[Logic] Dennis - Latest version of Logic???

Dennis - two points...
1. You asked what's the advantage? Multiple.
I have downloaded the same update more than once. Why? I wasn't sure if I
had it. The advantage of using the build number in the filename is for
assisting multiple customers. So - the effort of one person uploading a
filename with an explicit version name prevents numerous customers doing
repeated downloads because they can't see the version number in the
filename.
Additionally, if the download filename remains constant, it will overwrite a
previous download. I think this unwise from a client perspective as I always
want my downloads to be uniquely identifiable and readily available. With
various software more than once I have fallen back a version due to a bug
that had a direct impact and thus the need to revert.
2. I've suggested this compromise before:
Make the online downloadable file a ZIP and always use the same filename.
But inside the ZIP instead of "update.z" use a file name which includes the
full version and build numbers. This gives you your static web page
filename you desire and give us, your customers, what we desire - the
ability to see the version in the filename.
BTW - I create and/or manage numerous commercial & hobbyist web pages, so I
understand the work involved. I look at updates as it comes w/ the turf.
Easiest way to prevent a filename screw-up is RMB,Copy,Paste & you've got
accurate filename on page then hyperlink it. Done. Example - I frequently
add PDFs, and each MUST have an explicit name which really doesn't add much
work for me. But then ... depending on your web authoring software ...
