Carl:
Can't directly address your problem (sorry) but I had something similar some
months back and Symantec was totally unresponsive. I love their product, but
God save you if you have a problem and need to contact them.
I had NAV 2002 installed an registered on my PC; it was a version which did
Live Updates without any user intervention on my part (see a pattern here?
remember recent dialog re Logic clock hihi?). I had to reload my OS, but
then the registered software would not work oin the "new" machine, despite
various uninstalls, reinstalls, etc. Numerous email messages to Symantec
(you cannot get them on the landline) were answered with vague and
nonspecific suggestions.
I finally gave up. I have a hunch that their install or Live Update software
either installs something hidden in your registry, or perhaps logs your
registration info along with your network card MAC address or some such, so
that they can detect unlicesned multiple uses of the same program. Not sure
on this, but if Symantec assumes all their users are dirty and bootlegging
extra copies of their software, that culd explain their lack of customr
support.
Good luck; please post a solution if you find one!
