> This is an interesting topic and one I think should be discussed on
the reflector. What do you see are the benefits of having the
capability to design reports from scratch as opposed to just modifying
one that is
included in LOGic 5/6? It's been many years since I last used LOGic
Yes Art this could be a good topic for the reflector and if more people
pickup
on it could be a spin off reflector devoted to Report writing.
Once you learn how to put a report together, you can go on to write your
own with out
depending on one of the caned reports to roll your own to coin a fraze
hi.
LOGic 4 used the report writer that can with Foxpro 2.5 I think. Foxpro
is the
backbone program behind LOGic. I guess Dennis had to water down the
report writer
other wise LOGic would be to big and probably has to do with copyright
laws and Microsoft.
> As an aside, I am most impressed by what K1UQ has done with LOGic 5
and
printing directly on QSL's. That's my next goal. I'm getting a little
tired of labels.
I never under stood the use of labels on the cards and have always
printed
the Qsl reports directly on the card. I ever go so far as to print the
address
and return address on the envelopes. It's just a matter of placing the
fields
you want printed in there proper position on the Qsl or envelope. Once
you
got that LOGic will do the rest. I don't use labels to often, but have
several
reports that can use them if I need. I find it a better cost saving doing
it that
way.
Once you have a Qsl card or envelope layout, you can use it as a template
for other designs. The only problem is finding good background pictures
for
the cards. To date I have about 12 Qsl card designs with and with out
pictures,
depending on how much ink I what to use.
For instance I put together what I call a " Buro Qsl" which uses only 3
colors.
Black for most the printing and simple hand drawn background picture. I
print on 4x6 white plain index cards which I cut down to 3 1/2 x 5 1/2
Qsl.
And a little red or green for a "Qsl card request usually a red check
mark or
green for a "Tnx for the Qsl". I use this design for a mass Qsl printing
and
10-10# contact Qsl. And to finish off the cards I use a little Krayon
"clear"
spray paint to water proof the card and give it a little sheen, this also
keep cards
from turning yellow for a wile for those "Smoking Hams out there" hi.
Well I will end it here for now Art don't want to put you to sleep hi.
I am glad to share any Idea for Qsl/Reports since this is another great
part
of LOGic I always looking to improve on, another is the Qsl_managers
data.
But that another email hi.
