[Logic] Not ready for prime time? Another Point of View

>From previous posts of mine, you may have noticed my "protective nature" to
LOGic and PDA when it comes to remarks made by a few that could be better
channeled.
In this case, I think I can read between Harris' lines. Here's why...
First, Harris is still using 5.3 and, if I may be so bold as to presume, is
wondering should he make the move to LOGic 6? Recognizing not every user
jumps at new revs and may approach with more caution than some, I believe
Harris is simply wondering out loud, hoping for guidance - not flames!
Now why, or better, how could he do this? From what he reads here on OUR
reflector. Step back a bit and look at the frequency of posts - sure has
ramped up since ver 6, 'eh? And many, MANY posts have been discussions
about issues you users are having with the change from 5 to 6. As for the
comment about Windows 3.1? to me, merely a comment.
>>> Hey keep in mind - you guys are writing what Harris is reading!!!!
<<<
I rather enjoyed Not Ready for Prime Time in the Akroid, Bellushi, Curtin,
Radner and Chase days... so I looked upon the subject line much as I did the
TV show - with a comic slant written with tongue-in-cheek (for the
uninformed, dry wit is a strong trait with the Brits and Aussies!!)
One IMPORTANT point ... some of what I have read is a DIRECT result of what
we users do with our beloved LOGic. Example - I have a TON of users fields
that I need to square away. These are mine, and I feel torn - I created the
fields so feel the info should be ported automatically, but then the realist
in me thinks of the danger should I have "cleverly" made a field with a
name, same as a name, in LOGic. How would the author know? He wouldn't.
So opting to not port over list data is probably a smart move by PDA. (this
isn't a great example, it was just something I quickly came up with, so
please don't waste bandwidth flaming me for my example! TNX!!)
A last note - Harris even alludes to his not yet being comfortable with
LOGic 5, so think back (way, way, WAY back for some of us!) to when you were
getting a handle on LOGic! I have followed some of your posts through time
and remember!
Anyway, bottom line - - I wasn't bothered by Harris post. It was written
in a manner which didn't raise any neck hair. And I found it completely
unlike annoying rants I've previously been subjected to.
If you got this far, thanks for reading my point of view!
Regards, Bill K1UQ
