[Kenwood] TS2K - saving out of band freqs

Does anyone know the secret to actually saving an out of band frequency on
the TS-2000?
I can enter the frequencies 154.280, .340, etc.. and monitor the local
hospital wing, but if u attempt to save the frequency in memory so i can
scan all of the frequencies it rejects it.
Is there some secret to actually saving this to a memory?
You may ask why I want this on my TS2K, well to be honest my TS2K is
connected to my best and highest VHF antenna and should hear the farthest.
Since the wing operates simplex this is most advantageous to hearing both
sides of the conversation.
