Got to admit I didnt think about boats and airplanes.... hi hi But I
thought of, but waited for some one else to bring up the qrp, walking
and back packing side. Thanks for doing that.
Checked my Qrp reflectors, and not seeing much activity there. Seems to
be mostly about parts for some reason. Maybe I should find different Qrp
reflectors. Which ones do you use?
For walking, as I have mention in earlier emails, I love using Kenwoods
SkyCommand. There is nothing like checking into a Net and saying "This
is WD8ARZ Pedestrian Mobile Running A Quarter Watt On A HT" ... hi Hi
HI Did a lot of that his past summer, and looking forward to doing it
again next spring. Did SkyCommand to the HF Mobile gear in my Trail
Blazer, though it would be just as easy to do through the same equipment
when its on the base. Love working HF with my HT. Hey, that sounds like
a bumper sticker. HI
HfPack and I go back a long way. Did you folks know that in that movie
"2012" Woody Harrelson played a dude who was trying to get the attention
of the world that the end was coming? He had an RV he used to broadcast
from, and would carry gear on his back with a whip antenna he would
transmit from on foot. That gear actually belong to one of the HfPack
members in California. Another ham started the HfPack group, and I
assisted early on testing various frequencies out for net activities.
However the HfPack group for the most part is not as active as it used
to be. I have been encouraging mobiles to operate on the HfPack
frequencies and chat with the HfPackers as they need more interested
stations to hook up with.
Frankly, I think SkyCommand so outperforms HfPacking, that is has become
my preference now. Let my car carry the heavy gear that runs higher
power in to a better mobile antenna than I can carry. With longer
lasting battery too. All I have to carry is the HT and spare batteries
on my belt, not on my back.
I am a member of the qrp at mailman.qth.net ... is that the same one you
have listed below?
