[Kenwood] Kenwood MC-60 mic audio feedback in base

I had the same problem. No feedback when amplification was turned off and no feedback if I hooked the mike directly to the radio and skipped the wiring in the base.

Several cures on the net:
1. Some mics were wired wrong where the shield and return lines were reversed.
2. Make sure that the mike gain and radio's mike gain are not fighting each other, especially if you have processing going on.
3. from mods.dk (this worked for me with my rig about 10 years ago):
Note were the blue shielded cable goes on the rear stand connector( were the cable hooks up to the radio).....NOTE...make sure the ground braid of this connector has a very short piece of bare wire soldered from the braid to the body of the connector (VERY SHORT) you may have to file or scrape the body of the connector were it goes thru the base to make solder adhere, if this wire does not exist.Now obtain a .01 mfd 50 volt mylar condenser ( about 1/4 inch square) and solder one end to the center lead of that blue shielded cable were its soldered to the connector ,and solder the other end to the ground wire that is soldered to the connector body...keep these leads as short as possible...........NO MORE RFI

Does anyone have a cure for audio feedback when using the base of the MC-60. Problem does not occur when using the mic by itself less the base.
