I have a late TS-850S as backup to my main TS-950SDX. I also have a TS-50
as a second backup and for Field Day. Over the years it has always been
Kenwood all the way.

FYI,
I have a TS-850S as backup to my main TS-850S. I also have a TS-830 as a
second backup. The 830 is still a very good radio.

I second the vote for a TS-830S. I have one (bought new in '82) in addition
to
a Ten-Tec Omni VII.
Don't use an amplifier so if I need a few more watts, the 830 gets the call.
It
also has been a very reliable radio.
