[Kenwood] TM-D710 S meter on B side, maybe receive too way down

Looks like my 710 is crapping out. It seems to work ok but the S meter bar 
for the B band side almost never shows any signal. That is on repeaters 
that are normally full scale so not sure if the receive is actually down or 
not. Any "known" common problems like this?
BTW, the problem is in the radio body portion of the radio as today I put my 
710 head on a V71 body and the problem is gone. Later I thought maybe it 
was the cable as I used a new cat5 cable to the V71 body instead of my 710 
cable but replacing the 710 cable with the same cat5 cable I used on the 
V71 didn't fix it on my radio. Something in the body section bad.
Ideas?
