I acquired a Kenwood TM-2570A from an estate and know nothing about the
transceiver. I do not have a manual. I do understand that it has a lithium
battery to support the microprocessor. Is that true? If the lithium battery is
dead will the receiver stay alive and produce noise from the speaker. My
TM-2570A is mute and produces no noise from the speaker with the squelch open.
Is the lithium battery field replaceable? Is there a Ham who is a Kenwood repair
person that you can recommend.
When I key the microphone with a dummy load attached, and speak into the
microphone, the transmit indication shows that the transmitter is making a
signal of some type at some frequency.
If you can tell me what you think might be causing the receiver to produce NO
noise, I would appreciate it. Remember that the squelch is open and there should
be sound. Thanks for reading my post and your input will be greatly
appreciated. Thanks and 73, John, K5PGW
