How are you measuring the drive power?
800v on FT-101zd x approx 200 ma = 150 watts on FT-101zd indicator
Are you using ALC (correctly)?
As far as I know. I'm using the FT-101zd ALC out.
Did it EVER put out the rated power for you?
When I was driving it with my TS-430S I did have more power. I don't have the TS-420S here at this QTH. I didn't really look at this as an issue until this time with the FT-101zd. Seems like everyone was having a hard time hearing me, and I did some calculations.
What is the match between the driver and the amp?
pi network coming out of FT-101zd, and it connects through a two foot piece of RG-8U.
How are you tuning the amp?
I do it with the FT-101zd first. Get reflected power down to zero, at 150 watts. With the amp on, I quickly tune PLATE and LOAD for max on power out. This gives me about 500 watts on tuner indicated (cw=2200v; 2200 x 215ma = 500 watts <approx>)
How are you measuring the output?
With the tuner indicator. Has standard forward/reflected.
Frequency: 75m
One thing I note: I bought this amp, maybe 10 yrs back. It was used. I brought in home and used it not very often. I've been off the air for maybe six yrs. The finals tubes are not at all new.
