Ok, another weird quirk this rig has,
We all know the bad dirty contacts thing with the bandpass filters and
all that. Like this rig when you go from 3.999.99 all is well and
strong, but cross to the 4.0 to the 6.5 window you hear the relay click
in and the receiver is dead. I haven't bothered cleaning it because all
that I'm missing in that gap is a few broadcast bands so not a big
deal. BUT
I also listen to AM broadcast band lot and noticed there is a positive
deafening of the AM band. when I'm 500Kc and up it hears and all don't
get me wrong, but as you tube below 500Kc the receiver suddenly jumps to
life with much stronger signals and noise floor and all is greatly
stronger But no relays click, so I'm thinking some software attenuator
to help block strong broadcast band sigs?
Can this be removed? I don't have any near me. the closest AM station
is 10 miles away and is only a local station with qrp power.
Anyone?
