[Kenwood] TS-430 Problem: Advice Please

 In AM mode, the signal (and zero-beat) is only best received when dialing 20 KC lower on the digital read-out. In other words, 3.870 is best received at 3.850. Same problem on all bands including broadcast band...for example local station 740 KC is distorted, but nicely resolved at 720 KC. This radio has the correct Kenwood AM filter installed in the correct position.
 Rig works fine in all other respects, all other modes, all bands.
 Unless I am wrong, Service Manual only calls out Master Oscillator tweaks, so I don't want to adjust change that, since all other modes work as they should.
 Hints please?
