port itself that isn't working? How long is the cable you're using. 
That may sound like a weird question, but I've had 2 serial port cards 
get fried from closeby lightning strikes. Apparently long serial cables 
are good at picking up EMF spikes from lightning strikes. Had any 
thunderstorms pass your way?
