I finally found the time to get into the TX section of aligning my TS-790A....
Prior to alignment the output per band was as follows:
144.200 - 24 watts --- After align't 144.200 51 watts (~+3dB)
432.100 - 27 watts --- After align't 432.100 53 watts (~+3dB)
1296.100 - 9 watts --- After align't 1296.1 14.5 watts (~+2dB)
Obviously well worth the effort, and within specs now for the devices used.
I had my first EME qso on JT-65B with HB9Q and their 15m dish @ 1Kw RF on 432.070.
The TS-790A was barefoot to a K1FO-25 ele yagi at 40ft and a Landwehr M-M preamp. It was a spur of the moment contact, as I saw him on the JT65 logger and went to see if I could hear anything from him , and he was actually pretty loud @ -14.....
I have yet to receive info on the S-Meter scale on the TS-790A sub receiver.... The S-Meter itself works fine, but the S scale below the meter is almost invisible unless lit from the front by an external light source.... Should this scale be illuminated , or is this normal...?
All the bulbs I can find are lighting normally, but I wonder if there is a grain of wheat bulb or two mounted somewhere I can't seem to find.....Any thoughts or ideas on this...? 73...Jordan VE6ZT
