Having never owned a TS570 i can't compare it to the 480, but I will
say that the 480 is superior for portable and mobile operation due
to it's size and separate control head. The TS 480 is a very good
receiver with IMD distortion (close in) figures that rival the
vaunted ts9xxS series. It also comes with dedicated DSP filters for
digital operation, built in digital interface and all the usual
bells and whistles. I found the following document to be helpful in
understanding the design goals of the TS-480. You might find it
helpful in making comparison to the TS-570. It's not the regular
manual but a design overview written by the folks who designed the
TS480.
