[Kenwood] TS-940S Transmit Problem on 15m

Hopefully this may help someone with a similar problem.
For several years I've had an intermittent/fluctuating (and VERY
annoying!) in power output on 15m.....sometimes it worked fine, more
times than others I'd get a fluctuating power output or normal output
with no modulation (of course right when I needed it to make a DX
contact)--other bands worked FB. I tried many different things like
pulling every connector inside and giving it a shot of DeOxit; the
famous "lift and drop from 6 inches" technique; I'd even heard that
loosening and re-tightening the PL-259 on the output would help
(actually, every once it a while that did do it surprisingly), but no
permanent fix.
BUT, I recently replaced the memory/CPU batteries for the second time
since buying this rig new in 1986 that after replacing the battery
that's buried deep inside the CPU enclosure under the speaker
assembly, the problem has disappeared. Although the batteries didn't
absolutely require replacement I'm glad I did as that CPU battery had
actually started to corrode! So I'm thinking that the fix had
something to do with pulling that CPU box cover off and replacing it
was the cure....'course I'll never know but if someone else is having
a similar problem you may want to give that a try.
