[Kenwood] TS-930S Mic Impedance

I am using a Kenwood MC-50 dual-impedance (selectable) microphone.
Looking at the 930 owners manual and service manual, they indicate
that the 930 can accept both low impedance and high impedance
microphones. My MC-50 is set to high impedance. If I set it to low
impedance there does not appear to be sufficient audio to drive the
radio. I substituted a Heil HM-10 low impedance mic and got the same
result - insufficient audio even with the mic gain turned all the way
up.
Does anyone know what impedance the 930 requires for the mic input?
By my radio it is high impedance only and the manuals are wrong. If
the manuals are correct then it will be confirmation that I have a
bigger issue to troubleshoot.
