I asked Kenwood about it at Dayton. They admitted that most of the R&D is
focused right now on their land/mobile business. But it's easy to transfer
R&D from the one area to the other, and it's easy to assign engineers to
amateur radio projects when they need a new product.
They pointed out their amateur radio sales were up significantly last year,
and are doing great so far this year. Good sales and profits mean Kenwood
will not be walking away from the amateur radio market.
