I appreciate the recommendations regarding the RFI question and I have another one...
When I engage both 500 hz filters on CW, the audio is somewhat unpleasant to listen to...hard to describe other than a " hollow roar." I can take the "roar" out by adjusting the AF VBT but I lose the CW signal at about the point at which the roar is gone. 
I can create a similar phenomenon on another radio by selecting a similar bandwidth and adjusting the pass band tuning, which makes me think that there may be an alignment issue?
