[Kenwood] TS-850/HEIL

I sent a reply off list but it bounced.
I have put the Classic and the Goldline on the 850 and neither work. I put 
the same mic's on either of the other 850's and they both work perfect.
With either mic, I have the mike gain fully clockwise and am barely heard. 
Hand mic works great. On either of the other 850's the mike gain is set at 
about 11 o'clock.
I haven't tried Bob's trick of the small wire from shield of ground cable to 
the mic connector on this one as yet.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to set this up for a 
felow ham who is blind.
