[Kenwood] TS-870S Linear relay rating

Al this question comes up all the time.
1. The relay in the TS-870 will work with the TL-922A without any
problem as far as the rating. What I found is that the TS-870/TS-850
start sending RF before the relay in the TL-922A is closed. This
causing what is called 'hot-switching' and for just a second there is
high SWR coming back on the rig until the amp relay close.
2. Many guys use some kind of interface to buffer the keying to the
amp. This solves the problem.
3. On my website I have a nice artcle on the problem and any EASY to
make interface using one transistor, with detail photos. I am using a
Kenwood TS-850S with a Drake L-7 amp.
Please take a look at:
http://www.qsl.net/k0bx I hope QSL.net is up and working.
Then look for amp keying.
Hope this helps.
