Yes, that particular model has a terrible squelch circuit. I have sold a
number of them to loggers and this model has hounded me to death with
forever having to readjust the squelch which is NOT front adjustable and
had to replace the radios with the newer version called the TK-760G
series which is only 128 channels but still alpha numeric display but a
much better performing radio
