[Kenwood] TS-850 problems seem to have been fixed

For all you TS850 guys, this may be old hat but if it's news to one of you
it's worth it:
I had been having various odd sporadic problems with my TS850 ever since I
bought it, which was about 9 months ago. For one thing, it always took a
long time to stabilize after power on (about 15 minutes) before it
started producing undistorted audio, and there would be various
transmit/receive
glitches, as if the tr relay was sticking. The latest was that in receive,
it would start flipping back and forth between tx and rx on its own. I had
been running it off a 13.8 v. 20 A supply I had been using for a Ten Tec
Corsair II I used to own. Today I finally got around to substituting an
Astron 25 amp switching supply, that delivers 14 v. or maybe a little more,
for the old supply and so far the difference has been pronounced. I have
been operating the 850 today off the Astron and there have been NO weird
problems or erratic strange behavior. Seems like the 850 has a new rig
inside it as it works a lot better. If you have a kenwood doing something
inexplicably strange try checking your p.s. voltage and connection to the
rig.
