 That what it does...beep. Take a look at Menu #'s 50, 51, 52 to see
whether BEEP is on or off. I don't know if that will affect the beeping
caused by software or not. It may just be for the beeping when a front panel
button is pressed.
 To get to the Menu #'s 50-79 incl., hold in the MENU button while
turning on the POWER and then use the M.CH/VFO.CH knob to scroll through the
menus.
