[Kenwood] RE: 830S/Heil Goldline Question

Bob Heil has always been a perfect gentlemen in any of the dealings I've had
involvement.
He answers his own phone, answers his own e-mails and helps people out who
are stuck even when they haven't purchased something. A friend was having
trouble getting his BM10 to work with his Icom. Bob listened to all his
attempts at getting it working, said he was doing everything right, but that
the Icom mic input on the 751 is just screwy enough that only an Icom mic or
a special cartridge will work.
It was Heil who designed the mic input circuitry for subsequent Icoms.
I don't know the details of your dealings with Heil, but if the way you can
get on here and slag him so publicly is any indication, I wonder if your
approach was overly aggressive. Heil does enough work with the recording
industry that he really doesn't need the amateur business. But as a Heil
user for the last 12 years, I'm glad he dabbles. And when I need another
mic, you can bet your buns it will be a Heil. It's the best mic I've ever
used with my TS850. Granted, my goal is punchy, crisp contest audio, not
studio-quality dynamic range, but my BM10 has certainly held up well.
I may be wrong, but it's probably not a good idea to use the Booby Heil
thing when asking for an exchange...
