New subscriber here. I searched the last year or so
of the archives with no luck, so I'll ask the
question.
I'm considering the purchase of a TS-2000X for use in
rover related VHF contesting and some fixed station
VHF contesting. I noticed with alarm that when the
ARRL measured the TS2000, transmitter 2-tone IM
performance was considerably worse (most obviously on
6M) then most other radios. In the crowded VHF bands
around Chicago, this isn't going to make people happy
when I'm running high power.
Does anyone know if Kenwood has addressed this issue
in current production radios ?
It was sort of surprising ARRL didn't mention this in
the write up. Sure, RX performance is very important
and it looks like the TS2000 performs well. But, TX
performance is JUST as important in a contest, to
avoid getting a bad reputation - undeserved if your
wideband trash is caused by radio design !
Thanks.
